Nine Colonies to Receive Charters

2017 Charters
22 Aug, 2017

On Thursday, Aug. 3, Executive Director Andy Borans called nine colonies to the front of the room before more than 800 brothers during Alpha Epsilon Pi’s 104th International Convention in Las Vegas.

Each colony was given a stitched AEPi flag with the colony’s designation and school name to hold while Borans announced that the colonies would soon become official chapters of the fraternity.

Rowan University, Bristol University, Tel Aviv University, University of Delaware, California State – Chico, Sydney Metro, Concordia University, Arizona State University and North Carolina State University will all receive their charters this semester.

Of course, not all AEPi colonies get a charter. After an interest group is colonized, it must do well in several areas for an extended period of time (usually several years) before being awarded a charter from the international fraternity.

Over the coming months, each colony will install committees and work with the international office to plan chartering ceremonies, which usually take place over dinner on campus with parents, alumni, faculty and friends of the chapter in attendance. Keep an eye on the AEPi calendar for upcoming chartering ceremonies!
