Alpha Epsilon Pi's Department of Jewish Programming and Philanthropy is proud to announce the first annual "HINENI" the Jewish Identity Enrichment Conference, will be held August 2-4, 2010 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Applications are now being accepted! HINENI in English translates to "Here I am." It is a less common, formal version of two translations, which was used by the prophets, Abraham, Jacob, and Moses, when called upon by G-d. By answering"HINENI - Here I am," our forefathers answered the call with their declaration of readiness. This acceptance of responsibility defines our brotherhood and commitment to our Jewish and fraternal values and is shown through our dedication to fraternity, philanthropy, and our religious and cultural heritage. As the world's only Jewish Fraternity, we also have the responsibility of maintaining and strengthening our Jewish identity, within in our brothers, our chapters, and as one International organization. The goal of HINENI is to further engage brothers in relation to their chapters Jewish programming, connection with Israel, community service, and philanthropy. We will focus on uniting these separate initiatives and creating a new model for chapters to fulfill the responsibility of being "The Jewish Fraternity." Participants will be introduced to many different strategies and given the opportunity to network with partner agencies. Participants will develop a personalized campus action plan to implement during the academic year while instituting a stable and long lasting tradition within their chapters to promote these ideals. Additionally, HINENI participants will collaborate to develop a International Jewish Identity Initiative which will incorporate the entirety of Alpha Epsilon Pi's global brotherhood.
